How should we properly maintain the car air conditioning?

2026-05-06 11:32:02

As the penetration rate of automobiles increases year by year, the likelihood of car air conditioning becoming a channel for the spread of infectious diseases is also on the rise. The number of people infected with infectious diseases through air conditioning channels is increasing every year, posing a serious threat to people's health. Therefore, it is essential to regularly "cleanse" your air conditioning system, ensuring proper cleaning and disinfection, so that you can not only enjoy a cool summer but also breathe healthy and fresh air inside your car.

The hazards of not cleaning the car air conditioner for a long time are significant:

1. It leads to a decline in cooling and heating efficiency, increased power consumption and noise, and in severe cases, may even cause damage to the compressor, reducing the lifespan of the air conditioner. This not only makes the air conditioning experience in the car like being in a sauna, but also increases fuel consumption, seriously affecting people's hearing and driving safety.

2. When the air conditioning is on, with doors and windows closed, the air becomes stagnant, which not only produces peculiar smell but also breeds bacteria and viruses.

3. A large amount of dust and dirt will accumulate on the surfaces of the filter plate, radiator, evaporator, and fins, which can cause severe airflow blockage.

       4. When people are inside the car, they may feel discomfort in their nasal cavity, trachea, and lungs, or accompanied by coughing, chest tightness, etc. This poses a threat to their health, especially in families with children, as it may exacerbate their allergic diseases. In fact, the cleaning method is particularly simple:

1. Clean the air inlet of the blower

Dismantle the wiper arm and remove the plastic plate beneath the windshield. Clean the dusty areas using a professional disinfectant cleaner for air conditioning, or observe with an endoscope to ensure thorough cleaning. 2. Clean the blower

Remove the blower with a small tool and clean the blower impeller with a brush. 3. Clean the evaporator

Previously, cleaning the evaporator was a troublesome task that required dismantling the central console. Now, a new cleaning method has emerged, where one simply needs to open a cover plate located beneath the passenger side central console to insert a water gun into the evaporator for cleaning, even achieving visual cleaning. 4. Replacing the air conditioning filter

The air conditioning filter is the "first line of defense" against dust, so it needs to be cleaned regularly, especially in areas with poor air quality. It is recommended to replace the air conditioning filter periodically according to the maintenance manual, or to inspect it at the turn of seasons (such as at the beginning of summer or winter). 5. Clean the air conditioning ducts

If the air conditioning filter still emits an odor even after being replaced or after the replacement, you should first clean the air conditioning duct. Park the car in a place with good air quality, turn on the external circulation switch and set the air conditioning to natural ventilation mode. Then, spray cleaning agent evenly into the air duct through the air supply outlet, and after a few minutes, open the windows and turn on the air conditioning to thoroughly ventilate the interior.
